The landscape of surveillance is undergoing a profound transformation. As the premier forum for advancements in video, audio, and sensor-based monitoring, AVSS has always been at the forefront of security technology. In 2026, we embrace a broader, more impactful mission. The theme ““Expanding Horizons in Security, Safety, and Societal Monitoring”” reflects our commitment to not only advance traditional security applications but also to explore how these technologies are redefining safety, health, and sustainability in our interconnected world.
We invite researchers, engineers, practitioners, and visionaries from academia, industry, and government to join us in shaping the future of intelligent monitoring systems. Submit your groundbreaking work and be a part of the conversation that moves beyond observation towards understanding, prediction, and enhancement of the human and environmental condition.
AVSS 2026 welcomes high-quality contributions in both the established core of signal-based surveillance and the new, rapidly emerging frontiers. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
TRADITIONAL CORE DOMAINS
• Video Surveillance & Analytics: Scene understanding, crowd analysis, anomaly detection, real-time processing.
• Signal Processing for Surveillance: Advanced algorithms for audio, video, and multi-sensor signals. .
• Object Detection & Tracking: Across multiple cameras, in complex environments, for pedestrians, vehicles, and UAVs. .
• Behavioral Analysis & Activity Recognition: From individual actions to complex group interactions. .
• Biometrics & Forensics: Face recognition, re-identification, and forensic video analysis. .
• Security & Privacy: Secure systems, data integrity, encryption, and privacy-preserving surveillance (e.g., federated learning, anonymization). .
• Healthcare and Assisted Living: Remote patient monitoring, fall detection, activity recognition for elderly care, surgical workflow analysis, emotion and stress monitoring.
• Medical Imaging for Safety & Security: Medical video analysis (e.g., endoscopy, microscopy), monitoring for patient safety in clinical settings, security applications of imaging techniques like X-ray and thermal.
• Environmental & Ecological Surveillance: AI for biodiversity monitoring, animal tracking and behavior analysis, poaching prevention, pollution and wildfire detection via satellite/UAV video.
• Smart Cities & Infrastructure Monitoring: Traffic management and optimization, structural health monitoring of bridges and roads, utility network surveillance, and large-scale urban dynamics analysis.
• Multimodal Sensor Fusion & AI-Driven Situational Awareness: Fusion of video, audio, LiDAR, radar, and IoT data. Large-scale models for surveillance, generative AI for data synthesis and simulation, and explainable AI for critical decision-making.
AVSS 2026 invites submissions of full papers and, for the first time.
